Boeing to help PIA generate profits

KARACHI: Pakistan envoy in the US discussed potential fleet replacement and growth opportunities at Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) with officials of Boeing on Friday. Pakistan’s 100-percent government-owned flag carrier is enjoying relationship with Boeing for the last five decades, Hussain Haqqani, ambassador of Pakistan to the US said. During his visit to event production line of Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Seattle, he was delighted to see the 777 assembly line, where parts made by Pakistani companies were being installed. He said, “The 777 continues to help PIA generate a profit on its 777 routes as Boeing has been part of Pakistani consciousness and we expect this relationship to continue evolving for years to come”. The national flag carrier PIA and Boeing will continue to be long-term partners, strengthening commercial ties between the two countries, Haqqani added-Saturday, March 20, 2010
